Most questions in Oriental, NC can be answered by a dog. Why not real estate questions?

Dear Howard,

We're planning to move to Oriental next summer ('05). When should we start to talk to builders? We have house plans and they will be NC-ready (they were originally drawn by a coastal South Carolina architect). Since we live out of town, could we plan a day to talk to builders? Is that something that can be done in a day?

You are too cute!!!!! Bet you like biscuits....

Phyllis

Dear Phyllis,

It’s not too early to sniff out builders (start with at least three). You can do your initial interviews by phone and then arrange a visit to view some completed projects. Depending on locations, that shouldn’t take more than an overnight trip.

Starting now will also give you time to speak to past clients, work out any flaws on your house plan and consider alternatives … like a water bowl that fills itself automatically or passive cooling options (other than panting).

Your friend,
Howard

P.S.
I drool for Mother Hubbard’s P-Nuttier biscuits!
