NOTICE OF RACE

 

NEUSE RIVER SOLO

Single-handed Sailing Regatta, 2005

Organized by:   Oriental Dinghy Club

 

Date:   Saturday October 1st. 2005

 

Racing Area:   Course laid out between Oriental and Pamlico sound area of the Neuse River.

 

Registration/Check In: Registration by September 25 please - Late Registration and mandatory check in on the deck of the Oriental Harbor Marina, 5-7pm. Friday September 30th. Refreshments available.

 

Skippers Meeting: Deck of the Oriental Harbor, Saturday, 10/01/05 at 0900 SHARP!!

 

First Race Warning Signal:  warning signal will be at 11:50. Starting order to be announced at the captains meeting. Race instructions available at the captains meeting.

 

Eligibility:        Open Regatta: Expected classes: PHRF vessels, ALL non-spinnaker, Cruising, San Juan 21’s, J-24’s, and Ensigns. Any group of 4 or more boats willing to race “even” as a class. It is the responsibility of the one design group to ensure compliance with standard class rules and, where they may vary, to agree on the specification for this regatta.

Entry Form and Fees: Per attached.  NOTE: To avoid a late registration fee, call or e-mail your Intent to Race with all data required by 9/25/05 & present completed documents on or before the skippers meeting (contacts listed below)

 

Safety:

(1) All vessels must comply with USCG safety requirements. In addition Lifejackets will be worn at all times during the race. 

(2) Races will be cancelled or postponed with sustained winds in excess of 25 knots or in the event of a severe weather notice given by NOAA.

 

Social:             At the completion of racing Saturday, at approximately 5:00 PM, a social with free beer and sodas etc. will be served.

 

Trophies – Awards will be made upon completion of the race at the social.

Dock Space for Out of Town Vessels: Some limited dock spaces available (at no charge) on a first come first served basis at the Oriental Town Dock. (probable rafting) 

 

The Oriental Marina and the Oriental Harbor Marina have transient dock space available as well as that available at the Town Dock. Call respective harbor masters.

Release:

I agree to be bound by the rules and regulations of the event.  In consideration of the acceptance of this entry or by my being permitted to take part, I agree to waive all claims against the Oriental Dinghy Club, its organizers and their respective agents, officials, servants and representatives in respect to death, injury loss or damage to my person or property however caused arising out of or in connection with my taking part in this event notwithstanding that the same may be caused by or occasioned by the negligence of the same bodies or any of them or their agents, officials, servants or representatives.  I furthermore understand and agree that this Release is binding upon myself, my crew, my heirs executors and assigns.
