2.            RACING SCHEDULE:  Ensign races will begin immediately after the PHRF divisions have started.  PHRF warning is scheduled for 12:00 pm.  In the event that PHRF is not sailing that day, the Ensign warning will be at 12:00 pm.  As many as four Ensign races will be run but no race will be started after 3:30 pm.

3.            COURSE:  See supplemental instructions issued by the Fleet Captain on 7/2/2005 shown below.

4.            START LINE:  The starting line will be between an orange flag on the R/C boat at the starboard end and a port end nearby mark.

5.            FINISH LINE:  The finish line will usually be the start line crossed from the opposite direction.  However, in the event of a shortened course, the finish line will be between the nearby mark and the orange flag on the R/C boat.

6.            THE START:  Races will be started using RRS rule 26.

7.            FINISHING: After finishing, all vessels must stay clear of the finish line.

8.            RADIO:  The race committee will monitor VHF channels 16 & 72. Communications will be on Channel 72.

9.            PROTESTS:  Since this is a fun event protests are not expected.  However, each skipper is expected to know the rules, should do the “proper” turns if a rule has been infringed and should file a protest if the situation has not been addressed in a satisfactory manner.  Such protests are to be filed with the Race Committee immediately after the day’s racing and will be heard before the next scheduled race day at a time and place chosen by the Protest Committee. The interested parties will be notified by the Protest Committee.

10.        SOCIAL:  An after race social will be at Triton Yachts Pavilion immediately upon completion of the races.

11.        RACE SCORING:

11.1     The Low Point Scoring System, as provided in RRS Appendix “A” Rule A9 will apply.

11.2     Each boat’s fleet series score will be the total of her individual race scores.  The scoring will exclude the worst 25% of the number of fleet races run.  Example: If 28 fleet races (not days) are run during the season, the 7 poorest scores for a boat will be excluded.  This exclusion will be rounded down.

SUPPLEMENTAL RACING INSTRUCTIONS

FOR ENSIGN FLEET RACING

July 2, 2005

COURSES: ALL COURSES WILL BE WINDWARD/LEEWARD.

COURSE “W” (Displayed on course board on the RC boat)

Start/finish line is between an orange flag on the Race Committee boat and an inflated tetrahedron on the port end.

Windward turning mark is a tetrahedron directly to windward on the middle of the start line.

Leeward turning mark is the tetrahedron on the port end of the Start/finish line.

Course length is displayed on the course board as a number showing the number of LEGS to be sailed. It is NOT the number of LAPS.

            COURSE “S”

Start/finish line is between an orange flag on the Race Committee boat and an inflated tetrahedron on the port end.

Windward turning mark is a tetrahedron directly to windward of the middle of the start line.

Leeward turning mark is the tetrahedron directly to leeward of the middle of the Start/finish line at a distance approximately ˝ the distance to the windward turning mark.

            COURSE LENGTH

Course length is displayed on the course board as a number showing the number of LEGS to be sailed. It is NOT the number of LAPS.  This lets the Race Committee set a course that finishes where it starts, an even number of LEGS or finishes at the windward turning mark, an odd number of legs.

            TURNING MARKS

All turning marks are to be left to port.
