SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 2005

 

 

1.      Rules.  Racing Rules of Sailing, Class Rules and these SI’s.

 

2.      Entries.  Entry is open to all ODC Basic and Junior members in good standing with centerboard boats.

 

3.      Notices/Changes to SI’s.  Will be posted on the club web site (www.towndock.net/odc), sent via email or announced at the rigging area.

 

4.      Schedule.   Meet at the Wildlife launching sight at 1300. We’ll sail out and start racing by 1400. We will sail multiple short races. See the ODC Schedule for race dates. Race days missed due to weather may be rescheduled.

 

5.      Racing Area, Courses.  Racing will be out in the Neuse River off Oriental in the area generally bounded by Whittaker Creek #1, Oriental #1, the Oriental channel and the Oriental shoreline. Courses will be windward-leeward or triangle. Courses will be determined and announced on the water.

 

6.      Marks.  Marks will be ORANGE or YELLOW inflatable marks or government marks.

 

7.      Start. We will set a line and use the Appendix Q sequence (3 minutes with sound signals) or do Rabbit starts.

 

8.      Penalties.  Rule 44.2 is changed so that the 720 degree turn is replaced by a 360 degree turn.

 

9.      Scoring.  Low point average scoring system. We’ll average all your scores over the season. You must sail 50% plus one of the available races. Class prize(s) will be presented at the annual meeting.
