ODC
RACING
The
Oriental Dinghy Club provides both small and large boat owners an
opportunity to race one-design and PHRF sailing events and enjoy related
social gatherings on the windy Neuse river.
Starting
with a small fleet of Lasers and JY-15's the club has blossomed to include
a growing fleets of Etchells, Ensigns, Lasers and PHRF spinnaker and
non-spinnaker boats. Notice that the
club name says “Dinghy” but actually our largest fleet, by far, is our PHRF
fleet with boats up to 40 feet. The
Club holds races throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall. The addition of our race committee boat
in 1998 has insured the highest level of on-water race management. While our RC boat is rather unique, we
fondly refer to her as the “African Queen”.
She is a retired Navy Motor Whaleboat. The Oriental
Dinghy Club hosts numerous regattas and ODC members only races throughout
the year. Our SOLO race, held in
October, is always a high point of the season where boaters from all over
come for this one.
