note: Nope. This isn't one of those TownDock.net made-up "News
Extra" stories. There really was an "addition"
at the dock this morning.
The village
of Oriental welcomes boaters to the Town Dock with the opportunity
to stay up to 48 hours - no charge. Some boaters take further
advantage of this by leaving their unwanted ships stores. We've
seen old batteries left on the dock or sidewalk....gallon jugs
of dirty motor oil...beat-up deck chairs....but the latest "drop-off"
is one we had not seen before:

We
first spotted the new village facility Thursday night, and perhaps
concerned that a fermented beverage had affected our vision,
waited until Friday morning to thoroughly investigate.
Indeed, a head really had been dropped off on the sidewalk next
to the Town Dock.

While
the drop-off appeared in better condition than most heads we
have seen on boats, it may be reasonable to assume that the
former owners found some facet of it's operation less than satisfactory.

material may have been added by the photographer (it is
more difficult to use online publications in this manner).

The head
disappeared sometime later Friday morning. We are not sure if
it was the town's clean-up crew or a thrifty sailor that took
it away.
